What We Support
JAN Tests
Free online practice, assessment and an AI study assistant, built by alumni for every student at the school.
Why We Built It
Students preparing for the state board exams need two things above all: questions to work through, and someone to tell them where they are going wrong. Private coaching sells both, and most of our students cannot pay for it. So alumni volunteers built it instead.
What It Is
JAN Tests is an online practice and assessment platform written for this school and running since 2026. It reaches past the students we sponsor: it costs the school nothing and is open to every student on the campus.
- 35,000+questions in the bank
- 13class 11 and 12 subjects
- 2,000+NEET-style questions
- Freeto the school, for every student
A practice question, answered and explained, on a student's phone
For Students
Students sit tests online and see their results immediately. Every question comes with a hint, an explanation and a step-by-step worked solution, so a wrong answer becomes something to learn from rather than just a lost mark.
The question bank now holds over 35,000 questions across 13 subjects, written from the Tamil Nadu state board textbooks. Class 12 covers Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, English, Computer Science, Commerce, Accountancy, Economics and Business Maths; class 11 covers Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Every chapter also has explanations a student can read on their own.
New this year
Arivu, an AI Study Assistant
Most of our students have no tutor to ask when they get stuck. JAN Tests gives them Arivu, an AI study assistant that answers their questions using only their own textbook chapters, any time they need it.
-
Ask about any chapter
Students ask questions in a chat about one chapter or all of them, and can follow up on the answer.
-
“Why was I wrong?”
After a test, one tap under any wrong answer explains why that choice was wrong.
-
Another way to see it
During practice it can explain a question differently or work through a similar example.
-
Recap before a test
A short recap of a weak chapter before starting a test, and suggestions for what to revise next.
Arivu answers only from the JAN Tests study material for the student’s own chapters, and says so when something isn’t covered rather than guessing. It switches off while a test is open, students can flag any answer that looks wrong, and the school decides who has access.
For Teachers
Teachers assemble tests from a shared question bank and assign them by class, section and subject stream. They then see, for each student and each class, exactly which topics are not landing.
That is the diagnosis that used to arrive only after a term exam, when it was already too late to act on. Teachers also get plain-language summaries of class progress.
- Shared question bank
- Assign by class & stream
- Instant results
- Per-student analysis
- Class performance view
- Teacher-reviewed content
The teacher dashboard
Nothing Reaches a Student Unsigned
Every question is checked against the state textbook before it is loaded. The school's teachers reviewed the first units as printed question papers, and their feedback reshaped the platform: proper mathematical notation, diagrams on answers as well as questions, and model answers written as numbered steps a student can follow.
Free to the School
JAN Tests is designed, written and maintained by alumni volunteers. There is no licence fee and no charge per student, which is exactly why it can be open to the whole school rather than only the students we sponsor.
NEET Preparation
For students aiming at medicine, JAN Tests includes NEET practice, available to students whose school enables it. It adds more than 2,000 NEET-style questions on top of the class 11 and 12 science bank, including over 1,000 from real NEET papers and NEET sample papers, each with a worked solution.
Students get a daily drill drawn from their weakest chapters, chapter-by-chapter practice with hints and worked answers, and a readiness view across Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Work already done in school tests counts, so no one starts from zero.

What Comes Next
We are extending the question bank to further subjects and other year groups, and preparing short animated explainers and printable revision sheets for the concepts students most often find hard.
If you would like to help write or review questions, we would love to hear from you.
